World Oceans Day, celebrated on June 8, is an important opportunity to raise public awareness about the significance of our oceans and the challenges they face. Our oceans cover over 70% of the Earth's surface and are essential for life on the planet: they regulate the climate, provide food, and offer habitats to a vast array of marine species.
This day is also a time to reflect on the difficulties oceans are currently facing, such as pollution, climate change, overfishing, and the loss of biodiversity. Various organizations and communities take part in events and activities aimed at promoting the conservation and sustainability of marine ecosystems. At Seama, we have chosen to collaborate with SEAQUAL, an initiative that not only promotes ocean protection but also develops programs and campaigns to collect plastic and microplastics. Furthermore, it has established a supply chain for the recovery and recycling of PET, involving various stakeholders and producers—including us. We are proud to use SEAQUAL materials in our backpacks and in some of our bags and accessories.
