Sustainable fashion has never been talked about as much as it is today.
Consumers who are increasingly aware and demanding are no longer satisfied with clothes that are beautiful to wear, they also want to know how these clothes are produced and to ensure that the methods, times and places of production do not contribute to deteriorating the environmental conditions of the planet and the working conditions of the production personnel (it is well known that many workers in the clothing sector in developing countries are forced to carry out their work in conditions of poverty and exploitation).
But what exactly is sustainable fashion ?
Sustainable fashion is fashion that respects the environment and society in all its phases: from design to production , through distribution and sales.
This fashion proposal tries to work with less polluting , renewable raw materials , reducing waste in production , or using already existing materials, recovered, giving them a new life. Extending the useful life of products, fabrics and some components, responds to the criteria of the Circular Economy that can also be applied to the fashion sector. Why produce and extract new resources, when instead they can be recovered from industrial waste, where you can find leftovers with small defects, but perfectly usable? Or the unsold goods of shops.
At Seama we were inspired by this theme of circular and sustainable fashion and we gave life to our first collections that are made with stock from shops and industries but also with the fascinating world of post-consumer recovery, of sportswear. This is how our first backpacks were born, single-shoulder backpacks, obtained from windbreakers, using car seat belts, recovered and sanitized.
Furthermore, this model proposes a more humane production, without exploitation of workers and with fairer remuneration , this is how our story began.
